CityJerks Data Breach Leaks Millions of Sexually Explicit Messages
Friday, 28 April 2023
CityJerks and TruckerSucker join Ashley Madison on the list of secretive hookup service websites that have been hacked, with 177,000 CityJerks and TruckerSucker members having their sexual exploits leaked to the public for all to see. Not only were users' email addresses and passwords compromised, but so were their IP addresses, profile pictures, dates of birth, and registered city.
This information alone is enough to identify the users at an individual level, but even more worrying for those affected is the fact that the data breach also included the full chat logs of all active and historical members. In addition to the sexual nature of much of the messages, there was also further identifiable information leaked. "I will b in Jackson on business during the day on Nov.13 if interested message back I won’t have a place, will u?" reads one of the messages.
Troy Hunt, founder of the password breach database HaveIBeenPwned, was alerted to the breach on an underground hacking forum. "It’s really just a typical forum breach, albeit with super sensitive content," Hunt said. The forum post contained 12GB of user data, permanently associating the users with their respective messages.
The administrator of the two websites did not respond to a request for comment.
