Top secret U.S. military documents have made their way to multiple social media platforms, with investigations underway by the Pentagon and Department of Justice into how the data was compromised. Confidential documents were found on 4chan, Discord, Telegram and Twitter, with investigative research determining that the documents date back as early on as March 1st. The fact that the breach wasn't discovered for over a month raises questions on how widespread the breach was, and just how much data could have been exfiltrated.

Officials from the Pentagon have confirmed that the documents leaked to social media are indeed real, and are investigating the breach itself. Meanwhile, the Department of Justice has opened an investigation with the Department of Defense. At this stage, it is not known who is responsible for the data leak, nor even where the breach was initially published, as all examples found so far have signs that they are mere reproductions.

Mikhailo Podolyak, a senior advisor to Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy suspects Russia, citing the incident as "an attempt to divert attention, cast doubts and mutual suspicions, sow discord." Documents included maps of Ukraine with charts detailing where troops are concentrated, along with the weapons available to them.

This raises the obvious question - just how valuable is this information to Russia? Well, assessing the documents' value to Russia is difficult, especially while the full extent of the data breach is not yet known. However, documents already published reveal when Ukraine brigades that are currently being formed will be ready to fight, along with information regarding the rate of Ukraine's ammo consumption.
